5 Tips to create eyeliner from an eyeshadow

DIY Eyeliner

Eyeliners have been around for ages. Its been famously flaunted by style icons like Marylin Monroe, Madhubala, and Deepika Padukone. Colored liners have taken the beauty industry by a storm lately. It is easy to find the liners in popular colors like blue, green, and black. However, things take a challenging turn when you want to wear an offbeat bright color on your eyes. Whether you are short on a  colored liner or want to try a new look without investing in a new product, using eyeshadow as eyeliner is a surefire way to make your makeup routine fun with products you already have in your vanity. To create eyeliner from an eyeshadow, all you to do is dip your angular brush into the mixing medium and dip the wet brush into the eyeshadow. Voila! Your colored liner is ready. Here are 5 methods to turn your eyeshadow into eyeliner.

1. Water

This is probably the easiest and convenient option. However, it works only if it is a pigmented eyeshadow. Dip your brush into water, wipe out the excess so that its not dripping wet. Rub the brush directly onto the eyeshadow creating a chalky paste. Use this paste as you would use a liquid or a gel eyeliner. Works best with shimmery eyeshadows.

2. Vaseline

Scrape off some of the eyeshadow into a palette. Mix this powder with a tiny bit of Vaseline. You will achieve a colored paste that can be used as an eyeliner. Once you have applied the eyeliner, make sure to set the eyeshadow by applying another layer of dry eyeshadow. This is done to prevent smudges and increase the longevity of your liner.

3. Setting Spray

It is a better option to use a setting spray rather than using water because it makes the pigment stronger and long-lasting. Just spritz your brush with a setting spray and dip your brush in your choice of eyeshadow. If you are looking for glitter liner, spritz some setting spray onto the glitter powder, and you have a DIY glitter liner ready. M.A.C Prep & Prime+ is a great investment. It is a multipurpose spray that refreshes, moisturize, and sets the makeup.

4. Eye drops

Yes, you read that right! Eye drops are a superb way to go from eyeshadow to eyeliner. They are perfectly safe for sensitive eyes and most likely, we all have at least one bottle of eye drops lying in our cupboards. The method of using eye drops is the same as water.

5. Ear buds

The cotton earbud is an unexpected item from your vanity that can be repurposed to create the much desired smokey liner effect. Just dip the bud into the eyeshadow, twirl it around and use it to smudge your liner like a sponge tip brush.
